Norris Leads Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has beaten Oscar Piastri at all of the past five race weekends.
Lando Norris edged out fellow driver and championship contender the Australian for the fastest time in the closing stages of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the points lead from Piastri by one point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix a fortnight back, beat the Melbourne-born driver by 0.023 seconds.
Before then, Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver during the running before sprint qualifying scheduled for 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the sole remaining contender in the points battle, sitting with a 36-point deficit behind Norris, finished in 17th position as his team followed a alternative strategy.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to go off, though minor, when he lost control at the fourth corner early in the session.
The Japanese lost control over the exit kerbs before spinning across the gravel trap, and was blessed to escape with just a slight brush of the wall.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also lost it, at the very end of the session, turning around through the fast downhill corner leading to the last turn on to the start-finish straight.
The veteran wrapped up in P19, just behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were well clear of the remaining drivers, with Nico Hulkenberg's car P3, over half a second behind Piastri's pace.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was in fourth, with the Sauber of Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' George Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
