PSG Defeats Marseille on Penalties to Secure French Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now secured the prestigious trophy on fourteen separate times.

Paris Saint-Germain required a stoppage-time leveler followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to get past their arch-rivals in Kuwait and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions victory.

The Champions League holders seemed to be sailing towards a comfortable triumph in the match between the French league winners and the Coupe de France winners after Ousmane Dembele found the scoring early on.

Yet, the southern French side struck two times late to seize a shock lead. First, the English forward converted from the penalty spot, before the defender unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking twist of fortune, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a vital equaliser in the final seconds to force the match into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Chevalier then stood as the key figure, saving decisive attempts from O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all scored successfully for PSG to seal a convincing penalty win.

Now 14-time winners PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now won this trophy for the twelfth time in the last 13 seasons.
